Need help choosing?

I offer a flexible approach to projects to make it easy for clients to find the project style that matches their needs, budget and timelines.

But if you can’t decide which way of working matches your specific needs, I’ve put together the following Pros & Cons list to help guide you…

Project Approach Pros & Cons

Site Audit & Fix

“Find out what’s broken”

Pros:

  • You get my 20+ years’ professional opinion on what could be improved on your website.

  • I’ll go through the reasons why I recommend you change things, so you gain a better understanding of web design & online communication principles to help you avoid making the same mistakes again.

  • A Site Audit can help you figure out whether you need a full redesign/rebuild or a smaller set of changes, so it can be a precursor to the other approach(es).

  • You’ll end up with an itemised list of things to fix, with priority level, so you can approach the list in phases if you need to.

Cons:

  • A Site Audit does not include making any changes, only identifying them, so you will need to allocate additional budget to fixing things.

  • It’s probably not worth doing an Audit if you already know you need to change a lot on your existing website.

Expert for a Day

“Crunch through your checklist”

Pros:

  • You know exactly how much you will pay and you can choose exactly when we will carry out the work.

  • You get a concentrated dose of professional advisory time, so you can ask about absolutely anything you wish during that timeframe - website, Mailchimp, SEO, Google Business Pages, etc.

  • Having set date(s) in the calendar can be a good impetus to focus your mind on your website - great for busy people and procrastinators!

Cons:

  • Since this is an intensive, condensed, time-bound project, you will not get the same level of design polish as you would on a full redesign where I have time to be more considered and thorough.

  • There’s no guarantee we will be able to achieve everything you want within the set timeframe of a “Day”.

  • There’s definitely not enough time for me to examine & advise on every aspect of your website.

Redesign/Rebuild

“Do a full overhaul”

Pros:

  • You get my 20+ years’ professional expertise planning your website.

  • We will leave no stone unturned - every aspect of your website will get the professional treatment.

  • You’ll get a highly tailored and polished design, as I will have the luxury of time, so I can pay attention to the finer details and experiment with things until I hit the sweet spot design-wise.

Cons:

  • This can be the most expensive approach, especially if you want all the design bells & whistles of an Enhanced Design.

  • This can take the longest to complete, as I allow enough time in my diary to “sleep on it” and allow for exploration and testing things. Most projects take 4-6 weeks (depending on the scale/scope).

  • This can take the longest to slot into my diary as the scale of the project means I can only do a limited number at a time. Normally 3-4 weeks lead time is needed.
