Goal Click

About this project

Goal Click is a project that aims to increase international understanding and build community around football, by providing cameras to players of all walks of life around the world who document their experiences of the sport through analogue photography. Goal Click had a DIY website that had grown over the years to house hundreds of pages of photo essays, but lacked a means to allow visitors to discover the rich content archive or find ways to engage with the organisation.

They also wanted to make better use of their brand identity, and at the same time, to upgrade to the latest version of Squarespace. The project entailed a full redesign from the ground up, incorporating lots of custom coded elements to make the website really shine and showcase the brand. The migration involved converting hundreds of pages from one page type to another that would allow for categories and tags (labels) to be applied to each photo essay.

These labels would then be used to drive the content on a new Explore page, a page that allows visitors to find stories that are of interest through different themes, project types and locations. The Explore page now ranks in the top 3 most visited pages on the website, and user engagement has also increased, with visitors now viewing more pages and staying on the site much longer than they had on the old website.

NOTE: After project completion, all clients receive training to empower them to update their own websites, so bear in mind that anything you see on the live website may not reflect my design work.
